Description: Mecobalamin is equivalent physiologically to vitamin B12, and can be used to prevent or treat pathology arising from a lack of vitamin B12 (vitamin B12 deficiency), such as pernicious anemia. Mecobalamin is also used in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy, diabetic neuropathy, and as a preliminary treatment foramyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Pharmacological effects: Mecobalamin is a kind of endogenous coenzyme B12. Mecobalamin plays an important role in transmethylation as a coenzyme in the synthesis of methionine from homocysteine. The drug is well transported to nerve cell organelles, and promotes nucletic acid and protein synthesis.

Indications: Helpful in the case of patients with Arakawa's syndrome II. This is a metabolic disorder where the patient has the inability to metabolize mecobalamin. Used in the treatment for vitamin B12 deficiency. This medicine can also be used in the treatment of anemia. Effective in the care of patients with neurological disorders like as patients facing numbness and tingling and other symptoms. Such symptoms occur where the peripheral nervous system does not function normally and can be treated with mecobalamin. Studies have also revealed the effectiveness of the drug in the early treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
