Description: Docetaxel injection is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat certain types of breast, lung, prostate, stomach, and head and neck cancers. Docetaxel injection is in a class of medications called taxanes. It works by stopping the growth and spread of cancer cells.

Pharmacological effects:

Indications: Docetaxel is indicated for the treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer after failure of prior chemotherapy. Docetaxel in combination with doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide is indicated for the adjuvant treatment of patients with operable node-positive breast cancer. Docetaxel as a single agent is indicated for the treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer after failure of prior platinum-based chemotherapy. Docetaxel in combination with cisplatin is indicated for the treatment of patients with unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer who have not previously received chemotherapy for this condition. Docetaxel in combination with prednisone is indicated for the treatment of patients with androgen independent (hormone refractory) metastatic prostate cancer. Docetaxel in combination with cisplatin and fluorouracil is indicated for the treatment of patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma, including adenocarcinoma of the gastroesophageal junction, who have not received prior chemotherapy for advanced disease. Docetaxel in combination with cisplatin and fluorouracil is indicated for the induction treatment of patients with locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck (SCCHN).

Precautions: Before using docetaxel injection,tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to docetaxel injection or any other medications.you should know that docetaxel injection may make you drowsy or affect your judgment, thinking, or motor skills. Do not drive a car or operate machinery for 1–2 hours after you receive your medication.tell your doctor and pharmacist what other prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take. tell your doctor if you drink or have ever drunk large amounts of alcohol.tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not become pregnant while you are using docetaxel injection. Talk to your doctor about birth control methods that you can use during your treatment. If you become pregnant while using docetaxel injection, call your doctor. Docetaxel injection may harm the fetus. You should not breast-feed while you are using docetaxel injection.if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using docetaxel injection.

Adverse reaction: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, changes in taste, extreme tiredness, muscle,  joint, orbone, pain, hair, loss, nail, changes, increased, eye tearing, sores in the mouth and throar, redness, dryness, or swelling at the site where the medication was injected
